Gaining Weight...

I weighed myself yesterday, after our cardio class, and I've gained...a lot. It's really annoying because we actually lowered my daily caloric intake to 2500 from 3500 and I gained more than a few pounds since the change last week. When I was eating more (3000-3500 calories) I managed to lose 12 lbs in 3 weeks, and now that I'm eating less, I'm gaining weight. It's a little frustrating. I'm not upset or anything. I am, however, eager to find something that works. Gaining this weight basically cancelled out all the weight I lost in week three. :-/ Anyway, the reason my caloric intake was so high is because after taking a test to determine my RMR (resting metabolic rate), we learned my body burns ~3500 calories daily at rest. With my body burning so many calories at rest and me still gaining so much weight over the past years, the amount of daily calories I was putting in my body had to go well beyond 3500. That's shocking to me. Anyway, I'm off to the gym to do an extra workout before they weigh me this afternoon. I know I can't drop lbs in 1 workout, but I still want to go.

  1. Jay, remember it's not always about just the pounds; you are changing your body composition. Hopefully when they measure your composition this afternoon you'll see a difference. I know it's frustrating, but don't give up! We have to keep going at this. It's going to be a slow process, but one that is entirely worth the hard work, sweat, and tears. :) See you this afternoon!
